Winter Memories

Palette Painting by Janis Goldblatt donated to Alzheimers Association Art Auction 2016.
My palette painting and the paired paintings (previous post) sold at the MIM auction and earned bundles of money for the Alzheimers Association in Denver!  So pleased to be able to donate to such a meaningful cause.

 I was delighted to learn that my two of my watercolor painitngs  sold at Paint The Poudre 2015 exhibition.  The show raised money for "Save the Poudre foundation!

Paint The Poudre....  These paintings were painted en plein air at Watson Lake.  I am honored to have been invited to participate in this important event again this year!

Aspens This donated watercolor palette painting will be available in the silent auction for the Alzheimer's fund raising event , Memories In The Making.

Two of my poppy paintings will be paired with an Alzheimer's patient's painting of "Poppy Fields" for the gala fund raising event on June 6 at the Hilton Fort Collins, CO.

After over a week of being a serious, responsible adult, taking care of family business, I had to explore a bit of playfulness through my paintings. In the next few days,  I will post the one I did last night, but thought this image also captured a bit of that child-like delight within.

Snowfield Ablaze

I was so happy that this painting was juried into the 50th Wilderness Exhibition in Fort Collins.  Then, adding to the thrill, I learned that it not only received the People's Choice Award but was also purchased by a supporter of the arts!  I feel very honored.

Sold.  I was honored tho receive a Purchase Patron Award at this years Fall Art Festival in Glenwood Springs, Colorado!  This painting was in the Professional Miniature division and measures 4x6 in a 6x8 frame.  Thank you Glenwood Springs Art Guild for a great arts festival once again!

 After applying transparent washes wet into wet, and then drying the underpainting,  I began building color with  thick out-of-the tube watercolors including more opaque watercolors (as well as titanium white and neutral tint) all of which provided excellent coverage.  I used traditional brushes, a pallette knife, and the end of a paint brush handle to scrape, apply and slather on paint using an "impasto" and scraffito method.

Pieces Of The Puzzle

Peaceful Winter Woods

SOLD I am donating this original watercolor landscape to the Alzheimer's Association for the annual fund raising event called Memories in the Making.  More information regarding dates, locations, how to bid in the silent and live auctions, will follow in the near future.  This painting originally called "Springtime in the Rockies" was tweeked with the addition of the cardinal and of course, reconfigured to "fit" the artists palette.  (See prior posting to see the transformation).  I hope you will consider supporting this important event.
