I am doing a series of these delightful minature landscapes using wet-in-wet on the background and lively rigger work in the foreground with some limited spatters to add texture and dimensionality. This series is rendered on different types of paper which I will try to post over the next several days. See if you can discern a difference. I certainly can when applying paint!

You can begin to see some of the design changes, even though the elements remain set up in a similar lay out compared to the first one. I may go back in and contnue to work on it. Often a difficult question, whether to let well enough alone, or continue... we shall see.
This watercolor still life will be painted a second time. I will set-up the elements in the same way, but will attempt to change perhaps, the values, colors, shadows, and light source. In doing so, it will have the effect of changing the overall design. I read about this Charles Reid "exercise" on http://www.artistsnetwork.tv/ which is well worth veiwing, and it got me to think about design and composition differently.
